Awesome piece. it looks like you put a lot of thought into this piece. I think its pretty cool that for such an intimate scene you have a lot of strong diagonals, which you favor in all your work. I think one criticism i want to make is your line work in this piece. you should keep in mind all that your learned about line weight and sensitivity from your foundations years at ringling. through your line work in this piece, it shows that your insecure about your drawing. try to be more confident in with your lines, that comes time and PRACTICE! one great example is of course, James Jean. Take note on how he uses line in his work. notice how delicate and confident he is with his line work in his drawings. notice how he uses thin and thickness of a line and how fluid it is in all of his drawings and it gives it a nice sophisticated quality to his work.

even mclean is also a great example. one thing i learned from watching him draw and learning why his drawings are so good is because he's confident using line and especially value. again, confidence takes time and PRACTICE, but it can separate your work from looking like college level to professional level work.

while you work on a drawing for an illustration or for personal work, i suggest having artwork next to you that has a look that you're trying to achieve. (you probably have already heard this advise but i wouldn't tell you this if i didn't know from experience) even if it your drawing starts to seem like your ripping off the artist, keep in mind your still in school, you're still learning and developing a style. also somethings to keep in mind when you're looking at artwork are thinking about what is it about that piece that gives it a professional quality. what is it that attracts you to that piece and what qualities of a curtain piece or pieces can you incorporate in your work to make it professional? and really to answer those questions when you look at artwork. you will start to learn a lot about your self and your taste in things. and always compare your work to the professionals, cuz as you get closer to graduation and the real world, you start to realize your real competition and those are the people that are already out there making it happen with their level of work. so you got to be just as good if not, better than they are. sorry for the long comment, but i really like this piece. just be careful with some of the anatomy in the figures and don't be scared of hands. if you're going go have hands in a piece DRAW THEM. i hope you don't take offense to anything i said, i like were you're stuff is going and i want you to get better, cuz its looking pretty cool.
